Washington, DC - Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, welcomed the news that Karhlton Moore will become the next Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).

“We were very pleased to see the announcement today that Karhlton Moore, Executive Director of the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), has been tapped to be the next Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA),” said Yoes. “Gary Wolske, the President of the Ohio State Lodge, and his 25,000 members have enthusiastically welcomed this news, as Mr. Moore has been a reliable and engaging partner and advocate of the men and women in law enforcement.”

For over 15 years, Mr. Moore was the Executive Director of the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS). As Executive Director, he was responsible for the administration and evaluation of state and federal grants for law enforcement, victim assistance, juvenile justice, crime prevention courts, anti-trafficking efforts, re-entry, corrections programs, and traffic safety. He also worked in continuing partnership with law enforcement task forces and provided the Governor and the Director of the Department of Public Safety with current and projected criminal justice strategies.

“As Director of BJA, Mr. Moore will play a key role in setting national policing policies and distributing funding that is essential to departments across this country,” said Yoes. “We look forward to working with him closely in the days to come and welcome him to the national law enforcement community.”

The BJA works with State, local, and tribal jurisdictions to provide leadership focused on reducing violent crime, creating safer communities, and reforming America’s criminal justice system.
