On-Site Training Catalog

Presented by the Education Services Committee

Overview of Training Program

The National Fraternal Order of Police training program is an ever-changing collection of courses and seminars designed to develop an education and professional development program for our members. It is the goal of the Education Services Committee to set the highest training standards and quality education by:

  • Providing instruction designed to promote progressive growth for the NFOP at the local, State and National Lodge levels
  • Providing education services to aid professional law enforcement officers with all skills necessary to enhance their career skills and living standards
  • Providing a full understanding of the laws that protect the law enforcement officer from unfair treatment and protect the officer’s rights

To accomplish our training goals, the committee will host regional training events nationwide on a variety of topics through partnerships with federal agencies and organizations.

For more personalized training, the committee encourages greater emphasis on on-site training as a way to customize training for geographic topics and needs.

On-Site Training Services

The Education Services Committee has identified a collection of training seminars available upon request by local, state, regional and national meetings and events as on-site training. These courses are instructed by members for members in an effort to share the wealth of knowledge available within our organization.

On-site training saves you time and money—you get training when and where you want it, and you won’t have to worry about members’ travel costs. You can choose from one of our packaged training courses designed to cover the areas of greatest interest to your members.

These courses are flexible exercises that provide varying levels of help according to the intended audience’s specific interests and needs.

Pricing and Setup

On-site courses should be priced at a revenue-neutral basis. The host will be responsible for setting up the on-site needs—accommodations, registration, and any audio/video equipment required by the instructor, such as a projector, screen and microphone, etc. Arrangements can be made to have the instructor assist in this process. The cost for this instruction will be actual expenses (travel, lodging and per diem for each instructor as well as on-site expenses incurred).

The host may charge a registration fee to participants to offset the cost.

Modular Training Program

If you want something a bit more customized, you can virtually build your own program with our modular components. Typically, one course is used as a base, then you just add the modules that fit your training goals. For instance, you might want to learn about Lodge Administration, but also require a detailed background on Political Endorsements. You can also remove modules that don’t apply to your regional needs.

Developing Courses

The Education Services Committee distributed letters to potential instructors and included articles in the FOP Journal seeking volunteers in the development of this On-Site Seminar Catalog. The rationale is to identify timely topics and market these seminars as great additions to state and regional conferences. Hosting Lodges would be responsible for all on-site expenses including instructor travel and lodging and the National FOP will pay the National FOP salary rate as identified in the National Constitution and By-Laws to the instructors for actual training days.

This catalog will be updated as new courses become available.
